• Formatting and last minute edits are FUN! (OK, not really.)
• My cross-stitch is looking at me, pleading for me to finish it.
• I'm really looking forward to when it starts cooling down. It's been a triple digit August.
• My girls start school on Monday. I'm sad. :(

It's fun to be a leftie! Whee!

To all of you out there who are left-handed like me, Happy Left Handers Day! To all you people who write with their right hands, I feel bad for you. ;)

So, in my ongoing battle of fandom v. non-fandom usernames, I converted my Twitter account back to YappiChick because, really, it's time to just accept the fact that when it comes to onlineness, that is the name that I'm gonna use.  I have been using forms of the handle for sixteen years. So, yeah, I'm YappiChick over there again.

I've been on Twitter more this week because of all the pics/links for CC goodness.  Also, as I'm working on these edits, it's much more easy to check my Twitter feed rather than my f-list.  (That's not to say that I don't obsessively check the later though, LOL.)

So, since I finished my BB fic, I'm going back to my "Dude, should I have all my fics over here or on my comm?" debate.

Somebody stop me.

I really like the idea of having an "archive" at the comm so people don't have to wade through my "I'm at x words!" entries.  The biggest problem I have is that I can't backdate entries which is a tragic thing. (If I could, then the debate would be null and void and everything would be over there.)

Boo hoo, I just wish my brain would make a decision and stick with it.

And the Push thing? It isn't looking too good.  I'm going to pull out my notes in the next couple of days and see if my muse jumps on it or not.  Right now, I'm like "WOW! CRAFTS LOOK AMAZING!" because I haven't done anything since the Avenger birds I made for [livejournal.com profile] sangate and [livejournal.com profile] just_a_dram and that was over two months ago.

Today's the snippet post over at [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang. Spoilers/spec for Halo 4 abound. References from, well, just about everything. (Halo: Evolutions, Halo: CE, Halo 3 Terminals, Halo: First Strike).

Welcome to the story that has taken over my life )

On a completely different note...No matter how many times I watch Night at the Museum, I still can't wrap my mind around Dick Van Dyke being a bad guy, especially with the dancing scene during the credits, LOL.

Is there anyone better to narrate police videos than John Bunnell?

I don't think so.

There is nothing more cringe worthy than hooking up your old hard drive and finding a plethora of unfinished fics from six years ago.  I made Babe promise that if I were to fall over dead, he wouldn't read the random snippets.  He didn't agree to the terms :/

I also found a huge batch of Motivational Posters (dude, those were so funny to make) and all the files I used for my pic fics.  How has it been five and a half years since I first signed onto Gateworld? Dude, time flies.

Even better, I found a bunch of old video game music.  I was looking for the Quake 2 soundtrack (Sadly, it seems as though it is lost on my old iPod.) but I did find my DDR music. Now, that brings back memories.

The entire hard drive is an unorganized mess due to the mass exodus during Lappy's death. Someday I really should go through it all, but *cough* I know I never will *cough*

I knew that coming into this month, my life was going to be hectic. I just underestimated how busy life has become.  It's not that anything terrible has happened (well, minus the car accident), it's just that I have a lot on my plate.  And, over the past week, I have accepted that I don't have the time/energy to spend as much time online as I once did.

So, I am stepping down as "captain" of [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang and giving my co-captain full control.  I'm still going to be involved (I'm following her lead), but honestly, I don't have the ability to mod the comm the way it deserves.  Fortunately, she is an absolute rock star and I know the comm is in awesome hands.  (She has already done/is doing so much, I doubt anyone in the comm will notice the transition.)  It's sad because I remembering starting the comm years ago and not knowing what I was doing. ROFL Good times. Good times.

On a much more positive note, the artwork I made for Five Bullets has been posted.  The story been getting some love over at Smashwords which is always a wonderful thing! :D :D

Today was the first time I've been online (sans the business) in over a week.  I know there are birthdays I have missed. :(  So, happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] gelbes_gilatier and [livejournal.com profile] grav_ity.  Both of you ladies are awesome and lovely!

I'm sure there is fic that I haven't read and there are about a million entries that I haven't read (and doubt I'll ever get a chance to read).  If something epic happened, drop me a line!

I did manage to watch the Fringe finale. (Meh, without spoilers, I'm perfectly content to let the series end there.) I have managed to stay away from Halo spoilers (Though I am not sure my resolve will last when they start releasing the official plotline in a couple of weeks).  And yeah...that's it. Not much in the fandom department. (OK, I lied.  The Avengers is still awesome! There, that's better, LOL)

Wow, this is not surprising. At all.

Your result for The Fan Fiction Personality Test ...

The True Fan

OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything.

Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite serious and use it as a substitute after the canon ran out.

You are probably a walking dictionary of your favourite fandom and you are picky about what you write and read. The closer to the "real thing" fanfiction is, the more you like it.

You rather explore a character in all depth, see new sides and learn more about them than creating new characters or mix up the situations they are in.

You know, I'm thinking about using "OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything" as my tagline now. ROFL

So, I've talked about it for a while, but I'm starting the process of moving all of my fics and icons (the ones I'm willing to claim anyway) over to [livejournal.com profile] memymuseandi and making this journal Friends Only.  That means there is going to be a massive, huge, you're-lucky-if-you-survive cut (alright, maybe not that bad, but I imagine cutting my list in half).

If you want to stay on, just let me know.  (Some of you, however, are stuck with me even if you don't reply. *evil laughter*) If you are just here for the fic and icons, please feel free to join [livejournal.com profile] memymuseandi

So Bungie's been doing their weekly Fanart challenge and everytime they post the recap, I end up thinking one thing...."WHY CAN'T I DRAW?"  I've tried..., but dude, no.   To have to ability to actually draw something from the recesses of my mind? I want. So bad.

The highlight of the week...because this is the drawing that matches my image of John the most. And it's funny. LOL (I understand why the guy won the best of the week, but, dude, no...the face is not John.  Well, in my mind anyway. LOL)

So, after Babe tried, it was determined that Lappy is dead! :(  He ordered a new recovery disc and is going to buy a new hard drive and see if he can repair it (we'd replace Dino with it if it works).  But, because I am spoiled he found a great deal at work, I gots me a new computer.

I'm still mourning the loss of my other computer (we bonded over too many words of fic), but I have high hopes for this one (after I get use to Windows 7).  So today is going to spent doing the epically annoying task of transferring the saved files, downloading everything from iTunes to GIMP, finding a pretty desktop background, and trying to scramble around and remember all my saved passwords, etc.

(And let's not even start on how this computer doesn't have a word processing program so I have to use Open Office and none of my Works files are converting over.  Thank goodness that Dino has Works and I'll covert them to word docs.)

Let's just say that today is one of those days I wish I drank coffee. :P :P

ETA: I'm already on my way to geekifying my laptop. It's all about Halo, baby!

ETA2: And now I realize that I've lost all my fonts. Dude.

Since I'm going to be lost in the world of writing for the next month and I don't think I'm going to have a ton of time to check on the f-list, I wanted to see if any of you have Twitter so I can stay up to date with y'all.

Fee free to drop your Twitter name in the comments...or add me.  I'm @yappichick over there.

So, really, what do you do with it?

Keep it? Print it out and make wallpaper for your room? Delete it?  Have a word processing file with all your feedback it in? Do nothing with it and just go visit your fic with the comments anytime you need an ego boost?

As you know, I'm migrating off my yahoo email addie to hotmail and I'm trying to figure out what to do with my feedback.  (Forwarding over 2300 emails is *not* how I want to spend the next month, but I don't want to lose them because feedback is love.)

Please use proper punctuation and grammar when writing your summary.  Please don't tell me how much your summary sucks, but your story is good (because I won't believe you). Please don't use internet slang (i.e. sux, thx, pls) in your summary (I get enough of that on Twitter). And really, it wouldn't hurt to reread your summary to make sure there are no spelling mistakes because, well, it kind of makes you look like a chump.

Thanks to the epic awesomeness that is the Halo: Reach soundtrack, I now have over 9 hours of Halo music. (Not counting any of the non-instumental music in Halo 2, Vol. 1 and the Incubus songs.)  And how much do I love the fact they weaved my favorite part of the Halo soundtracks in Reach? Too much, Dude.

Martin O'Donnell, Michael Salvatori, I love you both.

Found this at [livejournal.com profile] geeklikewoah

You're probably all aware that Livejournal now allows you to repost comments to Facebook and Twitter. This is a very unpopular new feature. Firefox has an addon that hides the new Facebook / Twitter repost ticky boxes. But here's a little line of code you can use to make it so that no one, no matter what browser they're using, can repost comments.

.b-repost-item {display:none}

Here's what to do:

1. Go to Custom CSS in Customize Journal Style.

2. Copy and paste .b-repost-item {display:none} into the Custom stylesheet box and save changes.

Voila! As you can see the boxes are hidden on the comm now :)

FYI I did not write this but it was doing the rounds on my f-list and I encourage you to share it.
