Tried to write a Tangled fic.  It was 700 words of angst and sadness. Fic, meet virtual trashcan.  (OK, this is not true. I save everything I write because I'm obsessive like that.)

I did manage to come up with all the chapter titles and hit 50k words (say what?) on the Halo Fic That Will Never Be Finished. Seriously, it shouldn't be much more than that unless Babe reads it and tells me that my action scenes need to be expanded (He will. I have the amazing ability to turn a fifteen minute firefight into a three paragraph snooze fest). I've been moving parts around, editing the crap out of them, and adding fragmented sentences for dramatic effect.

Just like this.

Of course, then it's like, "Was the original better?" or "Does it totally seem like I dropped these eight paragraphs in from another chapter?", etc.  Seriously, Babe needs to start editing this so I'm not tempted to keep tweaking things.

I need to get my mind off this fic but my inspiration to write anything else is like my love for coffee: non-existent.

Oh well, my cross-stitch needs attention anyway. :P

Scrapped an epilogue, rewrote it, and birthed a sequel.

Remember the days of when I only wrote one shots and everything could be written in 700 words or less?

Please, plot bunnies, do not start coming up with ideas for fics based on the character(s) for the Forward Unto Dawn webseries.

No. Just no.

Er, yeah, they aren't listening.

I have finally figured out why I prefer to writing everything on paper before I type it: seeing a blinking cursor is far more daunting than staring into space, twirling a pen.

Though, after two hours of writing numerous introductions to the next chapter and nothing works, either way is frustrating.

That moment when your incoherent plot suddenly makes sense. \o/

(And, I'd like to say thanks to Kate and her use of "FEEEEEEEEELINGS". When I feel my characters are emotionally stunted, I put that note in the margin.)

When reading a flashback in the middle of a chapter, do you prefer the scene to be written in italics or in the past perfect tense?

I am currently working on a one-shot with Hawkeye.

Writing is still going well. I think I'm at 12k on the Halo fic! \o/

My Mario headphones broke. (I go through a couple of pairs of headphones a year because, if I haven't said it enough, I love my iPod.) So I got some replacements that look like 9mm bullets. It was either them or the ones with the radioactive symbol on them. (Those will be my next pair.)

I was in a Fatboy Slim mood so I watched the "Weapon of Choice" video.  How has it been over ten years since that song came out? Then, I started thinking about other music and really started freaking out when I realized that No Doubt's first CD came out twenty years ago, What? o.O

And I've got over 200 icons again, so all is right with the world now. ROFL

I used to be an extremely linear writer.

I would outline my entire fic and write everything in perfect order.  Writing was like driving down a highway (some roads were longer than others); in order to reach San Francisco, I had to first go through Los Angeles.  I love my Nana, my mom, my sisters and my nephew, but the idea of driving seven hours keeps me from making a monthly trip to see them.  And was that figurative seven hour trip that has kept me from writing me anything of considerable length for the past few (read: eight) months.

I thought it was burnout, but I came to realize that the reason why I couldn't write wasn't because I didn't have ideas--my brain is a fertile breeding ground for plot bunnies--but because the idea of writing anything of major length seemed like such a burden.  I have enough hobbies to know that when I feel like they become more like a chore than a joy, it's time to take a break.

So, for nearly a month and a half I didn't write anything new.

Then, I decided to sign up for the [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang and run with this idea for a Push fic.

And something strange happened.

When I was outlining a basic idea, I had several ideas for scenes.  Instead of jotting down the idea is my normal "N confronts K. Sarcasm abounds" notes, I actually shut up the inner voice in my head and flipped a page and started writing.  I think I might have let out a "woot!" when I stopped writing and saw a half page (aka about 500 words) staring back at me after five minutes.

Long story short, I flipped to the section where I am writing my story for the [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang and just let my brain go.  If a part of a scene popped in my head, then I wrote it down; if another section came to me, then I flipped the page and started writing. (Yes,  practically every fic that is over 2k is handwritten.) Before Friday, I had 0 words.  Now, I have somewhere around 4k.

It's a liberating feeling to get on a plane and go to your destination rather than sit in the car for hours and hours.  Yeah, I'll have to take the road trip eventually, but for now, I'm enjoying the flight.  (OK, I'll stop with the analogy now. I promise.)

So, what is everyone's writing method? Are you more of a linear writer or do you just write what comes to your mind and piece everything together as it comes?

Let's just say this week has been very productive.

The Soul Ops site--Done.  Finally.  *whew*  Mike wrote the about us page yesterday, we firmed up some details on the Task Force idea and I updated everything over at Etsy.  I still have to make my Feb post over at the blog, but considering the work Mike and I have done over the past month to get everything looking the way it does, I am completely thrilled.

The Persewnality Blog--Updated.  For the fourth week in a row.  Still feeling optimistic that I'll be able to do my four quilts from start to finish this year.

The [community profile] scifibigbang --Signups are going on.  I love seeing people sign up.  It gives this little heart major joy.

The writing--I finally found the words after they decided to take a six week vacation.  I have my entire Halo [community profile] fivetimesbb scribbled out and I managed to type out the first three earlier this week.  I was pleasantly surprised when my muse started to cooperate.

There are gonna be some changes around here (nothing terrible, I promise), but I'm not going to say anything else until I get some time to formulate my thought process.  Believe it or not, I'm trying not to act impulsive.  Shocking, I know.

You know with all the writing for Tangled and Halo, I almost forgot (OK, I did forget) how much fun it is to write for the Alice in Wonderland fandom. I mean, you can play with so many things! I told Babe about my little idea (it's a very small detail) to weave into the story and he even admitted it was pretty clever. (I considered that a win because AiW is SO not his type of fandom.)

I'm on page four of my "I'm going to write this sucker out by hand before I start typing" challenge. As I was drifting to sleep, I kind of finalized the plotline, but can I remember it now? Er, no. I'll have to sit down and try to outline it later today and hopefully it will come back to me.

My author liked her art for the [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang! Woot! So that's one more thing off the Big Bang To Do List! I still haven't caved and signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] hc_bigbang Talk about self-control! ROFL But, I do have a plot for next year's [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang. You know the one that doesn't start for another six months. (Unless my esteemed co-mod thinks we should change the timeline.)

With this idea to write a Primeval fic, my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] ruby_caspar has given me an introduction to Cockney rhyming slang. And I thought getting my blonde brain wrapped around the lessons from my Scottish guru, [livejournal.com profile] azure_horizon was difficult, LOL But, I am determined to write a fic for it after the AiW fic. Even if poor Ruby is going to have to Un-Americanize the whole thing. ROFL

Now I'm off to pick up the little one and some Taco Bell. :D

First scene meme will be posted on Meme Monday (LOL, themed posts are awesome!), but I thought I would take a break from another Halo fic that threatens to overtake my soul to have comment fic weekend! Yay! *throws confetti*

The concept is easy...give me a fandom, character/pairing, and a prompt and I'll write a little drabble for you. Hopefully.  (I'll just go to Google Docs and the fic should write itself, no?)  And y'all should know my muse doesn't write anything above a T rating. And uber-shppiness is not her MO. LOL

The fandoms: (And I'm branching out! Yay!)
Alice in Wonderland (Burton)
Legend of Zelda
Mario Bros.
Monsters, Inc.
Prince of Persia
Spongebob Squarepants (yes, [livejournal.com profile] sangate , I thought of you)
Stargate: Atlantis
Star Trek: TNG
Toy Story

Prompt me! :D

Story time!

Once upon a time, there was a blonde chick who was at home with her little ones during Christmas Break.  She wanted to write something (because the little ones were busy when their Pokemon!obsession), but her daughters had taken over her laptop (read previous statement about their Pokemon!obsession.  One was watching an episode on TV, the other was playing a game on the Pokemon site.)  Not wanting to upset them (and hear screaming/whining/complaining), she decided to go to Dino to write.

The only problem?

No word processing program. Other than WordPad, which is made of fail.

Er, no.

So, remembering the awesome spreadsheet that her incredible mod made for the [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang , she decided to go to Google Docs to write something, anything, because if she heard anymore "I choose you, Pikachu!" she was going to go insane. Besides, it was great! She could type from computer to computer without having to email .rtf files (or something else as equally as lame).

(Yes, she did do a happy dance at this thought.)

So, she made it a habit, during Pokemon time, she would escape go to the spare computer and type.  Then, after the oldest daughter went back to school, she found that she enjoyed Google Docs so much, she started using it on her beloved old laptop, Lappy.  (Which was a Good thing, because when it died suddenly, she still had her story.) Even when she got her new computer, she Still used Google Docs because it was easier for her to write.

Six weeks later? She has written nearly 30k words.

No Big Bangs. No gift challenges. (Remember, that she wrote 90k last year and nearly half that word count came from Big Bang Stories.) Which leaves one unquestionable conclusion...Google Docs is her enabler.

The End.

(And no, I have no idea why I wrote that in third person. Except for maybe the fact that I'VE WRITTEN TOO MUCH FIC SINCE THE FIRST OF THE YEAR.)

So I signed up for NaNoWriMo.

Yes, I do have another 6,500 words to write on my [livejournal.com profile] aiw_big_bang fic.

Yes, I do have a term paper due in 28 days.

Yes, I'm absolutely insane.

But, I know me.  Having multiple projects is the only way I'll probably get any of them done (with the exception of my term paper--that's non-negotiable).  It's the same reason why I have on a quilt, a cross-stitch, an ornament and a hedgehog to work on at all times.  I bounce from one thing to another, but they get done.

I am considering signing up to do art for [livejournal.com profile] aiw_big_bang, but I'm going to wait a few days and see if someone claims the story.  (If, by Wednesday, it's not claimed, I'll take it as a sign to do it, LOL)

But, this is it for the year in terms of fandom stuff.  December is a time for posting the [livejournal.com profile] aiw_big_bang fic, going through what I wrote for NaNoWriMo, focusing on finals for school and making sure I don't get too overwhelmed with the business.

If I do manage to finish both the [livejournal.com profile] aiw_big_bang and the NaNoWriMo, my word count for this year will be more than the past three years combined.
