The mindset of a fanfic writer

Day 1:
YAY! I'm so glad that the Halo fandom is so extensive that it was its own wiki! I so pwn this story!

Day 25:
Why must the fandom be so extensive? Waaaaah!!

*****

This fic is going to be 20,000 words.
25,000 words
30,000 words

It's never going to be finished.

****

Again, why did I decide to come up with a plot that actually required me to think? Then, I've got this Push fic that has to be started.  I'm still hopeful that it will get done...if anything it will give me a break from the emotionally-repressed Master Chief (because Nick and Cassie are far from stoic).

Unless the [livejournal.com profile] disney_bigbang happens this year, I'm checking out of long fics for a while. Give me a one-shot any day. (Speaking of which, why do I already have one rolling around in my head for Brave? Not now, muse!)

Fortress (1/1), Jurassic Park

Title: Fortress
Fandom: Jurassic Park
Characters/Pairings: Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, brief Ellie/Alan
Rating & Warnings: K
Word Count: 475+
Genre: Angst, Hurt/Comfort
Summary: What was the point of studying dinosaurs after everything he had seen?
Author's Notes: Believe it or not, this is a very, very delayed response (read: almost a year) to prompt 3 for the Blue Skies challenge over at day_by_drabble. (That community is like vitamins for my muse. Seriously.) Take place after the first movie.

I should be writing...

but I'm on Tumblr correcting people's misinformation about Halo canon.

Don't judge me. Because of this story, I have been on Halopedian more often than Tumblr, LJ, FB...yeah, you get the point.

And I'm at 29k...I'm pretty sure that this is going to be the longest fic I've written.

Wish me luck, I'm starting the "action-y, let's weave all these random plot points together and hope for the best" stage.

At least I have banana cake. LOL
