It's time to raid that family cookbook and bring your favorite recipe to the virtual potluck! :D I know that a lot of you have some killer recipes and I thought it would be a fun idea to have a "potluck" to share them with everyone.

The rules are simple. Sign up to bring an appetizer, side dish, main dish, and/or dessert and then post your recipe (and pictures, if you have any) on September 5th. I'll have a post set up and you can post a comment there.

A couple of notes:

If the recipe is not yours (i.e. it's something you found on the internet), please link it back to the original source.
This post will be public which means that if you don't want your Aunt Mae's secret BBQ rub known to the masses, don't post it here.
If you're used to using metric or U.S. measurements, feel free to post it like that here. I'll have converter calculators set up so that everyone can enjoy each other's goodies.
You can sign up to bring more than one item, just not more than one from each theme.
You do not have to post what recipe you're going to bring. (Although, if you want to, go ahead.)
You do not have to have an LJ/DW account to sign up. You can use your Twitter/Google/etc. account.

Please, please, please go around and promote this to your f-list. I'd love to see a variety of dishes from around the world. (So does my stomach, LOL)

I know, usually I save this sort of stuff for the comm, but I wanted to encourage anyone on my f-list that's an artist to go check out the remaining stories over at the scifibigbang .

We have stories in the following fandoms: Transformers G1, Transformers G1/IDW, Star Trek: TNG/Voyager, True Blood, Doctor Who/Sherlock, Dragon Age 2/Dragon Age Awakening, Halo, Drag-on Dragoon/Drakengard.

It's been an interesting year because stories that I thought would get claimed right away haven't and others that I thought we would need to search the internet for artists were snagged.

Let's just say this week has been very productive.

The Soul Ops site--Done. Finally. *whew* Mike wrote the about us page yesterday, we firmed up some details on the Task Force idea and I updated everything over at Etsy. I still have to make my Feb post over at the blog, but considering the work Mike and I have done over the past month to get everything looking the way it does, I am completely thrilled.

The Persewnality Blog--Updated. For the fourth week in a row. Still feeling optimistic that I'll be able to do my four quilts from start to finish this year.

The scifibigbang --Signups are going on. I love seeing people sign up. It gives this little heart major joy.

The writing--I finally found the words after they decided to take a six week vacation. I have my entire Halo fivetimesbb scribbled out and I managed to type out the first three earlier this week. I was pleasantly surprised when my muse started to cooperate.

There are gonna be some changes around here (nothing terrible, I promise), but I'm not going to say anything else until I get some time to formulate my thought process. Believe it or not, I'm trying not to act impulsive. Shocking, I know.

Finally finished the rough draft of entry #1 for fivetimesbb . It's for the ST:TNG fandom. It's been so long since I've written in that fandom. I'm still trying to decide if the reunion was like meeting with your favorite relative after a few years or the awkward feeling when you see someone from high school who used to be your friend, but has nothing in common with you now.

I'll take my feelings with a grain of salt. Right now, I think everything I'm writing is rubbish so I might be biased.

I do need your help. Can you give me any fantasy/sci-fi fandoms that have started/gotten popular over the past year or so? I know we're adding Once Upon a Time and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. My co-mod and I know nothing of Hunger Games so we're not sure if that fits in the "fantasy" realm so any help there would be appreciated.

Part of my "Let's start some new habits for 2012" is to have (and update regularly) a crafting blog. I really am trying to get organized (heh) and since my free time is basically A.) business B.) fandom C.) crafting I think it would be easier for me to keep track of crap having things in their own category. YappiChick will always be my dumping grounds for anything and everything. But, I figure if I have everything separated into their own individual blogs/sites/etc., my blonde* brain will be able to keep track of things easier.

Summary: In the aftermath of the Halo campaign, some realities are impossible to ignore.
Artist: drakulya was gracious enough to let me use this for the fic. The original picture is here. (Color was added by me.)
Author's notes: Once upon a time there was a chick (let's call her yappichick) who wrote a Halo fic called Moving Forward for yuletide. She posted it and thought that was the last time she would ever write in that universe. Her muse, however, had different plans.
This universe is based around the 2010 Happy Halodays card. The concept of the AU in a nutshell: most everyone (with the exception of Miranda Keyes) in the UNSC survived the events in the Halo trilogy and John and Cortana, along with Johnson and the Arbiter, make it back to Earth through the Portal in Halo 3.
There are references to all of the games (of course), The Fall of Reach, Human Weakness (from Halo: Evolutions), and Halsey's journal (from the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition).
A huge thanks to my Babe for betaing this sucker and my f-list for listening to be rant and panic and squee throughout the process.
