When you see this, post an excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y. Er, probably not.

Fandom: Alice in Wonderland

On the Wonder, Alice dreamed.

The singular dream that had plagued her throughout the majority of her life had been replaced by ever-changing dreams involving a mad Hatter, a disappearing Cat and a stunning White Queen. After the long, lonely days spent sailing on the open seas, she longed for these trips courtesy of her subconscious.

Sometimes, Alice would walk through the grand halls in the pristine castle in Mamoreal, listening to Mirana tell her about the latest potions and concoctions she was making.

Occasionally, Alice had the most marvelous tea parties with Thackery, Mally and the Hatter, paying no attention to Time at all.

Other times, she would ride of the Bandersnatch for what seemed like hours, as he showed her the vast wonders the land had to offer.

Frequently, she dreamed of walking through Witzend, the land now vibrant and fall of life, with the Hatter, listening to him talk about anything and everything, sharing with her all his life’s stories.

As they stepped into the room, four people looked at them suspiciously. John wasn’t expecting this; he thought their target would be alone.

The blonde woman stepped forward, approaching them.  “Can we help you with something?” she asked, not kindly.

When Rodney didn’t answer right away, John cleared his throat.

“Uh, yes,” Rodney stuttered. “We need to talk with him."The older man looked at Rodney with great interest. “Meredith, is that you?” he asked, making his way forward.

“You know them?” the blonde woman asked.

He looked them all over, shaking his head. “No, no. Just him,” he said, pointing at Rodney. “At least, if he is who I think he is.”

Rodney let out a long breath. “Yes, Dr. Bishop, it’s me.”

When John opened his eyes, he saw a grim Ronon looking down at him. “Good, you’re awake. Now we can have a look around.”

“I did not want him to wake up thinking he was alone,” Teyla said pointedly.

He turned his head towards her voice, making the room spin terribly. “Careful, Sheppard. You’re going to feel dizzy for the next ten minutes or so,” said Rodney from behind him.

Great, John thought, *Rodney* woke up before he did. He blinked his eyes several times, trying to clear his vision. “Where are we?”

“Somewhere where no one will find us?” offered Rodney sardonically.  "That is what the word banishment means,” grumbled Rodney.

Fandom: Halo

“So now we wait.”

“Don’t make it sound too terrible. We’ve been stranded together for much longer than this,” Cortana said. Suddenly, her holographic avatar appeared from the holprojector on the Chief’s gauntlet. “I hate lightning,” she admitted as the clouds moved closer to them.

That statement seemed to surprise him. “Why?”

“Oh, I don’t know, it could be the idea that one well-placed lightning bolt could spell the end of me.”

He looked at her. “I would keep you safe,” he assured her.

She blushed. She never knew how to take the Chief’s compliments, especially because he had the propensity to say something like that one moment and then ignore her the next. “You’ve done a pretty good job so far,” she replied.

Fandom: Star Trek: The Next Generation

“Beverly told me that you don’t want her on the Enterprise.”

Jean-Luc looked at his upset friend with a frown. He could count on one hand the time he had the anger of Walker Keel directed at him.

“I never said that,” he argued weakly.

“You told her you would approve a transfer off the ship, Jean-Luc. If that doesn’t say ‘I don’t want you here’, I don’t know what does,” Walker fought back.

Picard shifted in his seat. Obviously, unlike he and the doctor, Walker and Beverly remained good friends after Jack’s passing. “I didn’t think she wanted to be stationed here.”

Walker’s laugh surprised him. “It’s been too long since you’ve seen Beverly. Nobody makes her do anything she doesn’t want to, especially if that something is tell her to leave Earth and transfer on a starship whose primary mission is to explore new worlds.”
