Fanfiction.net fail?

OK, is it just me or when you go to ff.net you sometimes get these "download these programs or you can't get on the site" pop ups?

Let's just say my love for AO3 has increased tenfold today. (Now if all the good writers in the fanfic world will post their stuff there. LOL)

ETA: Does anyone know how to make it to when you click on your journal entry, it looks plain and boring like this, as opposed to how posting it in your journal entry? (And, yes, the link is on the comm I run, but the layout is my co-mod's domain...)

I got those the other day. I exited and tried again a couple times before it left me alone.

AO3 = Archive of Our Own

Think fanfiction.net without the annoying ads, the ability to download fics (which, for someone like me who has a Kindle, is awesome), has organized collections (I have one for the Big Bang I run) and is generally awesome.

The link: http://archiveofourown.org/media

It's a lot smaller than ff.net (For several months I was the only author who had fics in the Halo category) but there are a lot of gems there. I don't know if you write fic, but in order to get an account there and post, you have to get on the waiting list (it typically takes 2 weeks). But you can always comment using open ID.

Annnnnnd, I've probably talked too much. Again. LOL

No! not at all! I had never heard of it before and so thanks for telling me! Looks like a place to check out in my spare time. :) Yeah for more reading! lol.

To the latter:

GO HERE

Under "Presentation" - set Disable customized comment pages for your journal to YES. ♥

Just make sure you're switched to the proper community, first.

Yes, FF ads are very shady these days. Totally annoying.

I mean, I rarely go there anymore because of teh suck. When it started happening last month, I thought "Surely this is a terrible idea that will rectify itself"...Er, no.

LJ and AO3 are for me. (I love AO3 anyway because I can upload fics to my Kindle--it's the only way I get any reading done. LOL)
