And the Halo chorus rejoiced!  
So, it has been confirmed that Jen Taylor is coming back as the voice of Cortana.

YAY!!

It can almost (but not quite) make up for the angst that I feel when Babe causally asks if I've seen the Game Informer article titled, "The Rise and Fall of Cortana in Halo 4". The answer was a no that sounded more like a gut-wrenching sob.

DO NOT KILL MY GIRL, 343! With Johnson gone, and if Cortana kicks the virtual bucket, where will all the snark go???  I love you, John, but a series of video game you alone do not make.

I am still doing my best to stay away from plot spoilers (which is why Babe had to tell me the title of the article) because, ugh, November is too far away.

This is epic news about JT! \o/

I'm gonna stay in my optimistic bubble here: they still have to have a very good reason to let her die. It's not that the 7-yr lifespan isn't reason enough. It's because the Master Chief will go on, and there's simply no replacement for Cortana the fandom will accept. So either we're in store for a beautiful sacrifice or, far more preferably, an epic triumph that will lead to even more epicness.

Actually, I hope H4 ends in a cliffhanger; I hope saving Cortana is a very central theme for the next three games, not just H4. I'd even be okay with her being ambiguously "dead" for one game so long as she returns in the last one. -Mostly for the part when they'd be reunited after so long, ya' know? *swoons* ;D

ETA: Oh no... That last sentence is morphing into a rabid plot bunny in my mind. NOOO! I don't have time for you!!

Yes. Very yes.

I would love for the Cortana arc to expand over the course of the trilogy too. And I could even roll with the idea that she "dies" in H4, we see the ramifications of her death in H5, and she comes back in H6.

Hmm... She'd have to die for John in some fashion. That's the only acceptable death she could have - but it still begs the question of now what? I dunno. I keep thinking about how they could let her die, and I come up with nothing. Not that it couldn't happen, but it keeps my glasses rose-tinted!

Have you heard about Forward Unto Dawn? I'm super excited about it; I only hope that they use Steve Downes for John's voice if he speaks. I loved the other short films - or at least how they looked. Birth of a Spartan was... well, you read the books. ;)

Don't tempt me! It's gnawing on the corner of my brain as it is. *swats it* I have no idea if I could pull something like that off to begin with! And I'll never know if I don't try. UGH!
