“I still do not understand this game,” Spock said, while maintaining his balance precariously.
Kirk looked up from his awkward position and flashed a grin at Uhura. “I told you he would like this game.” He craned his neck slightly to the left. “I told you, Spock, it improves dexterity and balance. Besides, it’s a classic.”
Spock sighed. “I do not understand how a game called Twister could be an adequate substitute for proper training,” he replied.
To his side, Uhura flicked the spinner. “Left hand, yellow, Captain,” she said, amused.
Kirk looked down and frowned. There was no way he was going to be able to reach around. Damn, he thought. He was going to lose. Again.
As he lifted his arm, he heard Sulu’s voice coming from the comm console. “Sulu to Kirk.”
With a grin, he jumped up. “I guess it‘s a draw,” he said to Spock who was still on the game mat.
He pressed the button as Spock stood up. “Kirk here, go ahead.”
“Sir, Starfleet has given us new orders to go to Deep Space Station K-7,” Sulu reported. Even though Kirk couldn’t see him, he knew Sulu was frowning.
“And did they give any reason why?” he asked when Sulu didn’t elaborate.
“They issued a Code One Alert early this morning. Starfleet hasn‘t been able to contact them since then. The Enterprise is the closest ship to the system,” Sulu replied.
At that, Spock walked next to Kirk. The two exchanged a glance. “Think it‘s the Klingons?” Kirk asked.
“It is the logical assumption. The closest Klingon outpost is only one parsec away,” Spock replied.
Kirk smiled. It was about time for a little action. “Alright then, let’s go have some fun.”
