I know, usually I save this sort of stuff for the comm, but I wanted to encourage anyone on my f-list that's an artist to go check out the remaining stories over at the [community profile] scifibigbang .

We have stories in the following fandoms: Transformers G1, Transformers G1/IDW, Star Trek: TNG/Voyager, True Blood, Doctor Who/Sherlock, Dragon Age 2/Dragon Age Awakening, Halo, Drag-on Dragoon/Drakengard.

It's been an interesting year because stories that I thought would get claimed right away haven't and others that I thought we would need to search the internet for artists were snagged.

So, if you're interested, please go claim! If you are involved with any comm within the fandoms, please promote! :D :D

Remember, rough drafts aren't due until June 30th.  That's like forever in internet years.

I'm thinking about writing my Halo/Star Wars crossover for it. Heh.

ETA: This is why I love running this challenge: a Fringe/My Little Pony: Friendship in Magic crossover

I've gone ahead and opened up Yuletide Madness 2011 for uploads! This collection will remain open probably until sometime early on December 26th, shortly before these stories are revealed. I will announce here before that happens.

Not everyone has a full story uploaded yet, but to the best of my knowledge, everyone either has a story, or has been sent to a pinch hitter.

Please remember, as long as the main collection is open, all 1000+ word prompts should go into Yuletide 2011. Anything under 1000 words goes into MADNESS.

The full list of all requests can be found here on googledocs or here in an html version. The requests of the most awesome pinch hitters who were not signed up for Yuletide are in a nice spice red shade! (at least for those that have sent me requests so far, there may be more added later!)

They're kind of ugly, and you'll have to F to find anything, but they should all be there!

You didn't have to sign up for Yuletide to write a treat, so if you feel your muse calling, go forth and write!

For any of you that have artistic skills, go check out the artist claims at [info]aiw_big_bang.

Head on over to check out the summaries and claim a fic.

And even if you aren't an artist, maybe you can promote on your journal to get the word out.

Or reblog it on Tumblr here.

So, as I was waiting for the slowest website ever to make the "Social Networking" thing, I had the opportunity to read a wonderful Thor fic written for the [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang.  Go, read.  It's not just a Jane/Thor fic, there is a ton of interaction with the other members of the Avengers, a bit of family drama back on Asgard, and is a story of general awesomeness.  It has plot! And a great one at that!

And don't forget to give the artist kudos too!

Also, the artist claims for the [livejournal.com profile] aiw_big_bang are up.So, if you wanna make some art for some Alice in Wonderland goodness, head over there and see what fics might tickle your fancy.

So, back in July [livejournal.com profile] grav_ity wrote a post that [livejournal.com profile] laura_josephsen wrote a book called Confessions from the Realm of the Underworld (Also Known As High School). Seeing that it was available on the Kindle format, I zipped over to Amazon and downloaded the first chapter.

I have to admit. I had trouble connecting with it initially. Maybe it was because I had been writing for the Tangled fandom so much that the transition was a little impossible for my blonde brain to handle. Maybe it's because subconsciously I was waiting for the firearms to come out since I couldn't remember the last time I read a fiction book that didn't have some kind of weaponry. Honestly, I think it was the names. (Which I'm sure most people loved, but since I'm one of the 80% of people* who can't say her name right, I found them a little, er, scary?)

So, I put it on the list of "when all my big bang stories are written I'll probably come back and try it again". But then, about a month later, [livejournal.com profile] sache8 made a post promoting the same book. Someone was trying to tell me something, right? She had linked Laura's blog on her post, so I popped over there. (What do you mean I was stalling from writing Taming the Rider at that point? LOL) She had written a tag to the novel. Being the Spoiler Junkie avid reader I am, I went ahead and read the short story.

That got me hooked. I don't want to spoil anyone who may read it, but let's just say that my favorite trope of all time was referenced there. It went from "someday I'll read it" to "Gee, I'm glad my birthday is less than a month away".

So, on my birthday I bought it (thanks Mom for the Amazon GC! LOL). And I read the whole book in an afternoon. It's a fun book that deals with some heavy issues. (It's not an oxymoron, really.)

I love Joey beyond all reason. Maybe because I identify with him the most. Sephie is awesome because she's got the spunk that I want to have. (On a side note, I find it completely amusing that two books I have read this year both have a character named Andromeda--very, very different characters, but amusing nonetheless.)

I think Laura did a great job of showing us these big issues exactly the way a teen would. While there are a few epiphanies made throughout the book, none of them seem out of character or too mature for who Sephie is (a seventeen years old who isn't quite sure what to do after high school.)

But, you know the true sign that I really, really liked the book? I wanted more. One word: wedding. Because we know that it would be all kinds of crazy awesome.

If you're looking for a fun read, go and check it out. It's only $2.99 for the Kindle version.

*Sephie's stat, not mine. LOL

Someone tell me not to sign up for this despite the fact there is a rabid plot bunny bouncing in my head

[livejournal.com profile] hc_bigbang[livejournal.com profile] hc_bigbang[livejournal.com profile] hc_bigbang

I mean, I don't even like the genre too much and yet the pull is there.

The story isn't due until April. So, if I did sign up for it, that would already be my fourth big bang for 2012 (assuming I didn't finish it this year) after [livejournal.com profile] disney_bigbang, [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang and [community profile] hardmode

Don't bother telling me I'm obsessed with Big Bangs. I already know. LOL

And yes, you guys should sign up because of the pretty artwork you get with your fic. :D

So, yeah, my self-imposed "vacation" from LJ has pretty much been a bust. Oh well.  I have managed to write 4k in three days and I have a plan to actually get pretty close to the word count so all is good in the Big Bang world.

I just finished making a video to my Scottish princess, [livejournal.com profile] azure_horizon (or [livejournal.com profile] bonny_banks if you prefer).  Dude, I must have tried about a half dozen times before finally getting something that didn't have me cracking up every two seconds.  There is, however, a lot of head bobbing (I blame the valley girl in me, ROFL).  I'm sure if she shows Cazz and/or San, they can all get a good laugh at just how blonde I sound. LOL

Author signups for the [livejournal.com profile] aiw_big_bang are going on.  Yes, I signed up for it even though this is my fifth big bang of the year.  The word count is relaitvely low so I'm not worried.  And I have a vague idea of what I'm writing.  (Hello Alice in Wonderland/Peter Pan crossover!)

Also, I wanted to say thank you again and show off all the goodies that were made from my prompts over at [livejournal.com profile] ic0nfest  So. Much. Goodness.

Click of the icon goodies! )

Any of the icons are snaggable, of course.  Just be sure to give the maker credit because these are all epic!

Now I'm off to write. Really.

I'm serious! LOL

Two days with my "I like crazy" icon...Summer insanity must be taking over my brain.

I signed up for another writing challenge...it's only a drabblethon! And it's a good thing because we know I can't possibly stay focused writing two big bang stories (in the same fandom no less) in a row without some kind of distraction!  Now it's your turn to sign up!

Photobucket
Click to find out more...

Go and sign up...I'll wait for you to come back.

I love challenges like these because I can write it whatever fandom I want.  Is it bad that I already have a post-it note with random fandoms on it?  I've got my Disney/Pixar movies, my video games, my TV shows, my cartoons and my movies from the 90s.

Dude, this is gonna be fun.

So I did a little something different this time and didn't offer a fic (yet).

I'm offering this guy

Photobucket

Over here (I'm springing for shipping, so no worries there.)  I *might* offer another one, but we'll see if I actually get another one finished.  I'm pretty much convinced that I'm at least going to get this (because podfic is awesome and she has a BIN option :D ) and a couple of things from the art section (because I know there won't be any Halo fic offerings).  If anyone is doing a "postcard from my neck of the woods" offer, TELL ME. Because I would love something awesome like that.

Anway, if you have an offering, let me know and I'll promote it:

After a mid-life internet crisis (*giggle*), I'm baaaack!  A brief recap, I'm going to ditch the [livejournal.com profile] memymuseandi community and post my fic and icons over at [livejournal.com profile] theamusingmuse which make posting my big bang fics super easy because you can post with entries on out of order dates unlike in a comm, but I'll always link them here anyway.

Alpha/cheerleader sign ups are going on right now at [livejournal.com profile] scifibigbang  so check it out!

Also, I've got an off at [livejournal.com profile] help_nz  over here.  There are LOTS of great offerings (if you are on my f-list and are offering something, let me know so I can promote it).

Artists

Woot! I'm kind of organized and totally excited about this year. And not just because this gives me a an excuse to write a 25k word story about Tangled.

I hope to see some of you guys sign up...I know what a talented bunch of writers (and artists) you are. So, get your muse going and sign up! :D :D

Yuletide madness is open...You didn't have to sign up for yuletide to play (though you do need an AO3 account).

Who knows? You might find something inspiring on the spreadsheet that your Muse can write! (The stories are suppose to be under 1k, so that should be easy...if you manage to write a story over 1k, then it goes in the main archive.)

I've already written three treats...they're tons of fun to write! :D :D

First of all, I love my family.  We got our Christmas Tree up this weekend and now it's all decorated and lookin' pretty. It's absolutely awesome in its originality...I mean really, how many Christmas trees do you know that have ornaments from Star Trek, Star Wars, Toy Story, Legoland, Pokemon *and* snowmen?

Secondly, [livejournal.com profile] yuletide   When I first got the prompt, I was "Hmmm...I wonder what my Muse has in store for me" and now? Now I have four notecards with outlines...that's always a promising sign. LOL

And a plea from me...if you are interested in the Alice/Tarrant pairing, then maybe you could sign up for a day over at [livejournal.com profile] aiw_advent   The "demands" are small...a 100 word ficlet, a little piece of art, picspam, or even a rec is fine.  :D :D

Christmas cards are going out today and tomorrow... :D :D
